Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results; Skagit County Court Docket does not retain or record those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email or contact message as needed to answer it. It is kept within the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the server may automatically receive basic technical information about that visit:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Small files called cookies help measure broad use patterns, such as popular pages and exit points. Analytics providers combine this traffic information for reporting. A browser can refuse cookies, although disabling them may change how some features behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Keeping the site up, running, and loading quickly
- Sending your search requests to the right partner service
- Figuring out which pages people find useful and which need work
- Tracking down and fixing technical issues
- Showing ads that may line up with your interests
No Court-Record Data on File
We do not host, maintain, compile, or sell a database of Skagit County court dockets or personal case information. Our content identifies official court, clerk, calendar, and statewide search routes. Visitor information is not assembled into a report about any third party, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Their privacy terms, retention periods, and disclosure practices apply to information submitted there, and those choices are outside our control. Review the provider's policy before running a query.
Links to Other Websites
Throughout the site we link to clerk of court pages, trial court portals, statewide case-search systems, legal aid groups, and third-party search tools. Clicking any of those links takes you off our site. At that point, their privacy policy governs your visit. Read it before sharing any personal details.
Certain advertising partners may track your activity across sites to show targeted ads. That tracking runs on their systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Some information may end up with:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used to protect collected information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. Contact us if a minor appears to have submitted information so it can be removed.
Your Data Rights
Applicable Washington privacy and consumer-protection laws may provide additional rights concerning personal data. Washington's Public Records Act, chapter 42.56 RCW, concerns government records; court case access is governed separately by Washington court rules such as General Rule 31. Subject to applicable law, you can:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as practices or legal duties change. A revised version will appear here with an updated effective date.
